SPECIAL TRAVEL & ARCHITECTURAL PHOTOGRAPHY SEMINAR
By JACK LAXER, International 3-D Travel Photographer, Lecturer
And Multi-Media Producer. His previous programs sold out.
Saturday, July 31st, 2010 – 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. – Complimentary Refreshments
at BEL AIR CAMERA – 10925 Kinross Avenue, Westwood Village
THE J. PAUL GETTY MUSEUM, one of the most prestigious cultural centers in the
world, recently accorded Jack an honor by inviting him to present an evening of
his travel and architectural photography at the Getty Center. Featured in his
Getty program were many innovative techniques and custom equipment Laxer
developed that enable him to capture challenging scenes. All custom equipment
and techniques referred to above will be demonstrated at Bel Air Camera’s July
31st seminar.
Further, Jack will present an exclusive segment illustrating how photographers
with conventional, non-3-D digital or film cameras can easily produce dramatic
3-D photographs … without purchasing additional expensive equipment! This
demonstration at the Getty evoked great interest from many professional and
amateur photographers in the audience who were surprised to learn of the added
creativity and realism their conventional cameras can provide.
Jack’s program at the Getty Museum sold-out to a couple of
hundred persons shortly after its announcement.
Though Travel Photography includes photos of family, friends and people
indigenous to destinations visited, pictures of architecture and other subjects
are also pivotal for preserving memories of your vacations e.g., churches,
theme-parks, statues, museums, landscape scenes, etc. These interesting subjects
are important “targets” for your camera.
Yet, how often have you returned from memorable vacations or assignments and
were unable to photograph certain important scenes – or were disappointed with
the compromised pictures you settled for? Laxer, noted International
Travel/Architectural photographer for more than 30 years – whose work has been
commissioned by KODAK, NIKON, OLYMPUS, many renowned architects and
International Government Tourist Offices worldwide – will share his innovative
yet practical techniques that permit you to capture those “impossible” views.
Various countries are represented.
Following are just a few of many problematic situations that pros and amateurs
invariable encounter. Jack will demonstrate how these and other difficult
circumstances can readily be resolved. Techniques are applicable to digital and
film photography.
• For example: Jack will show you how to make hand-supported long exposures with
your camera (up to 60 seconds and longer) without a tripod while achieving
perfectly sharp pictures. His ingenious technique is invaluable when
photographing museum interiors (or other dimly lit places) where tripods and
flash are prohibited.
• Churches, museums and other interiors you wish to photograph invariably
contain mixed light sources which result in pictures with distorted colors. Jack
will demonstrate an effective method that ensures perfect color-balanced prints
without necessitating purchase of color-correction filters and a
color-temperature meter.
• How many photographers carry a slingshot and plastic sandwich bag in their
arsenal of photographic equipment? Probably None! … Unless, of course, they
attended one of Jack’s seminars. Jack will demonstrate how these two items allow
him (and you) to capture photographs that would otherwise be unobtainable.
The LOS ANGELES CONSERVANCY, an association of over 8,000 professionals honored
Jack by inviting him to present an evening of his 3-D photographic expertise at
the IMAX Theater in Los Angeles where hundreds of people attended. This event
sold out in just 3 days as the NEW YORK TIMES reported.
